LabDx To Create 65 Jobs
Last week, the Bluegrass Business Development Partnership (BBDP) announced that Laboratory and BioDiagnostics, LLC (LabDx) will be locating a new diagnostic laboratory in Lexington. The company, which was also awarded $250,000 in state funding from the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority, plans to create 65 jobs as part of a $7 million capital investment.
"This is another example of the importance of education to local economic development and of the continuing growth in our thriving health care industry," said Lexington Mayor Jim Newberry, in a news release. "The founders of LabDx, who were educated at the University of Kentucky, have created a company with plenty of growth potential. Their company will offer good-paying jobs, and those jobs will, in turn, help us improve the quality of life in our community."
The BBDP, which is an economic development initiative by Commerce Lexington, Lexington Fayette Urban County Government and the University of Kentucky's Office of Commercialization and Economic Development, has been working on LabDx's expansion for three years. According to the release, the new jobs will have an average annual salary of $50,000.
