Instructional Designer

Requisition Number 0606391 Position Summary: The Instructional Designer assists faculty and staff members in the design and development of instruction delivered primarily, but not exclusively, online. Job responsibilities include: collaborating with faculty/staff in all phases of the preparation of high quality educational materials and courses; collaborating with members of a multimedia production team in the creation of a variety of instructional materials; developing and offering professional development to faculty/staff members dealing with course design and the effective use of various technologies; and evaluating new and emerging technologies/software for use in instruction.
Minimum Educational Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Instructional Systems. Master's degree in Instructional Systems, Education, Communications or related field preferred.
Minimum Experience Qualifications: Three years of experience required in course or curriculum design preferably in higher education. Proficiencies in Blackboard CMS and multimedia authoring software such as HTML, PowerPoint, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Flash, Photoshop, and Windows Microsoft Office required.
Qualification Equivalencies: Experience cannot substitute for education, but education can be substituted for experience.
Desired Qualifications In-depth and demonstrated knowledge, understanding and application of instructional design theory and principles, learning theory, instructional technology, and adult learning; ability to apply principles of effective client consultation and team processes; ability to complete projects within a specified timeline while working on multiple projects simultaneously; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; experience with current course management software (e.g., Blackboard); familiarity with basic technologies used for instruction and training as well as software facilitating the design of instruction; awareness of accessibility considerations in instructional design.
